On the subject of emotions-God made man in his own image, and likeness. God has emotions, and when he created man and woman he gave them free will, and emotions. We are instructed to bring our emotions under control, and not allow them to control us. A man/woman who exhibits true, honest emotions who is led by the Holy Spirit-will not be a walking robot, talking in monotones, and flatline their emotions. They will exhibit an honest personality, without trying to be perfect. These are people led by the Lord, trusting Him in their daily lives. They may make mistakes, and stumble-but righteousness is evident in their daily life. Studying the life of the disciples helps us to understand the work of God in a persons life-and how the Holy Spirit transforms them, but, that it takes our surrender to God that brings that transformation.
