The Lord's Prayer Text Matt. 6:5-13 In this teaching tonight we are going to open the front door of faith and begin with the Lord's Prayer. The Lord's prayer is recited by people many times in a monotone, ritualistic, and just empty word's. When I first was saved I studied Jesus' teachings on prayer because I was hungry for the truth, and wanted to know Him, not mans opinion or formula. I came away changed forever, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to see the power and effectiveness of the prayer, when it is spoken literally, and in faith. I was also shown thru study, the depth of the scriptures relating to each request made by the Lord, and how to appropriate scriptures to these verses. When Jesus was walking here on earth, every word He spoke was significant, with great purpose. He never wasted his words. His words are living, and full of power. That is why this prayer is so important. As we study it tonight I hope the Holy Spirit helps you grasp the importance of every word Jesus spoke in this prayer, and that He meant every word He spoke. In the Lords prayer, Jesus encompasses all the attributes of it which are: praise, reverence, petition, and gratitude. We will also see that this prayer is simple, to the point, not repetitious, it is the perfect model prayer. Read Matt. 6:5-8, In these verses the Lord clearly lets us know what He thinks of meaningless, insincere prayers. The power of our prayers doesn't come from the abundance of our words, but the honesty of our hearts. "Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name." (ask the men if they know of a place in the bible where the Father is described) In The very first sentence, Jesus establishes our relationship to God: He is our Father, and He desires our love and devotion, to come to him with open arms and without fear. Jesus' teaching in Luke ch. 15 on the prodigal son reveals to us more deeply what this means, and the depth of the love of God for every one of us. When the son came to himself, and started back home, even when he was still a long way off, the father saw him, and ran to him, embraced him, totally restored that son. This is our heavenly Father. In John 14:9 Jesus said to Philip "he that has seen me has seen the Father: Jesus is our greatest example of the Father and His great love. In the old testament, the book of Hosea gives us understanding of God's longsuffering and mercy. As our Father, in prayer we should consider these things; ⦁ The Father already knows our needs, but he invites us to come to Him and make our requests known, because He loves us. Matt. 6:32, Ps. 139:2, Heb. 4:14-16 ⦁ We are to pray to the Father because He alone is all powerful, all loving, all wise. We are to pray in the name of Jesus because all power and authority has been given to Him because of His victory over the devil on the cross, when He rose again from the dead. Eph. 1:20-22, Col. 1:12-17, John 16:23,24. ⦁ We are to give reverence to the Father and the Son, and acknowledge His holiness. Ps. 89:7 ⦁ Over the years the Lord has proven to me the importance of honoring Him, treated Him with respect. I've also come to know the truth that He honor's those who honor Him. Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. ⦁ Paul gives us a clear image of the kingdom of God in Romans ch. 14:17 which says "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." ⦁ When we go to the gospels, Jesus describes what the kingdom is supposed to be like here on earth in even more detail in Matt. 25:31-46. This could be an entire study in itself, but there isn't enough time tonight. I encourage you to do this on your own. Note: At the end of this teaching, there are more verses and commentary added, on "thy kingdom come"-for emphasis. ⦁ It is no coincidence that the very last thing spoken in the bible in Rev. 22:20 by Jesus himself is "Surely I come quickly", and John responds immediately with the following words "even so, come, Lord Jesus." When Christ returns, this sin sick world will be restored to the beauty and glory that it was before Adam and Eve fell....and God's kingdom will be here for eternity. ⦁ Is. 64:4, and1Cor 2:9 tells us "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." ⦁ Paul goes on to say further in 1Cor 2:10-12 "But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but by the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God." As we walk out our pilgrimage down here, and grow and mature, the Holy Spirit reveals the riches in glory in Christ Jesus, as we seek to know them. But, we will only know in part, and see in part until Christ comes and we reign with him in His kingdom.....I am waiting anxiously for that day. ⦁ Acts 14:22 tells us "that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God." When we walk with God on this earth we are going to come up against opposition, and persecution whether we like it or not, if Jesus suffered, we will suffer. We have to settle this in our hearts, and make up our minds whether we will walk this out for Him or not. Give us this day our daily bread. Throughout the bible we are given many promises of God's desire to meet our needs, and bless us abundantly, but there are conditions. Our obedience, and the condition of our heart opens the door to His blessings. We only have time for a few tonight. ⦁ The psalms and proverbs have many promises we can stand on. Ps. 34:9,10 says "O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." The word fear here also means reverence, and respect. Ps. 37:25 David says toward the end of his life "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." The new testament has many promises as well, "Be anxious for nothing, but by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made unto God." But my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus", But we have not a high priest that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Cast all your care on the Lord, for he cares for you." Note: We as Christians complain far too much, especially in this country. We should study what the persecuted Christians have to endure in other countries." ⦁ Prov. 30:8,9 sums up what should be in our hearts concerning our life here "remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." These verses are in line with Jesus speaking in Matt. 6:33, 34 "But, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you. Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof." ⦁ God has created us speaking spirits, and given us the privilege of prayer to make our requests known, and has given us the choice to speak in faith or unbelief. The story of Moses leading the children of Israel out of Egypt shows the results of murmuring, complaining, disobedience, and unbelief. For 40 years God was longsuffering, but in the end they all died in the wilderness, except Joshua and Caleb, they had a spirit of faith. We need to learn from them. What is in our hearts, and what we speak out of our mouths determines our destiny. And forgive our debts, as we forgive our debtors. The most difficult thing a Christian is taught to do by Jesus, is to love those who do not love us. His life exemplified that. Matt. 5:48 tells us "Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." We cannot do this without the help of the Holy Spirit, I rely on and ask for His help in this area all the time. But while we are down here on this earth the Lord's work in us is to transform us into the image of His Son......and until we meet him face to face, it is a continual work. There is no such thing as easy Christianity. ⦁ Jesus' words in Luke 6:35-38 teaches us "But love your enemies, do good, and lend hoping for nothing again; and your reward will be great, and you shall be the children of the highest: for he is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Be therefore merciful, as your father is merciful. Judge not, and you shall not be judged, condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven:" ⦁ The most profound verses on this subject are Matt 6:14,15 "For is you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But, if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." This is as clear as can be, and the choice is ours. I want to be forgiven, and be in right relationship with the Lord. Reading this helps me keep a respect, and reverence for God, and His holiness. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: Again, God created man a speaking spirit. We are living spirits, that live in a body, and when this body lives out it's span of time, which God has allotted us-it returns to the dust it came from. But, our spirits goes either to heaven, or hell. It's final destination depends on what we've done in our bodies, while here on earth. This world is the land of "in-between"- where decisions and deeds are done, that will determine where we will spend our eternity. As speaking spirits, the Lord has given us authority, and power in prayer for protection from the enemy and to be able to change the circumstances of our lives. In the next several teachings I will go further into this realm, but tonight we can only touch on it. ⦁ In Mark 11:22-26 Jesus teaches us the power of our faith and our words, "Have faith in God. For verily I say to you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatsoever things you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have aught against any: that your Father which is heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But, if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Here we see the necessity of our forgiveness again in order to receive answers to our prayers. When we harbor unforgiveness, the door of heaven is closed until we do. Over the years the Lord has proven His Word and His promises to be truth, but they must be appropriated correctly, and we have to line our lives up with his instruction, in order to see the results we desire in prayer. Forgiving those who have done evil to us, and hurt us doesn't mean we condone what they did-it means let it go, give the offense to God in prayer, and ask for our hearts to be healed. Harbor no resentment or bitterness-don't allow the devil any place in our hearts, that will hinder our prayers. Also, it doesn't mean we must associate with, or allow an abuser in our lives, let them alone, but we must not harbor unforgiveness. ⦁ In James 4:7 It tells us what we must do to stand in a place of authority against temptation and evil, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Our greatest weapon against the devil is our obedience to the Word of God. But, when it becomes necessary to speak to him as Jesus did in the wilderness, it is the word of God that we use to destroy the works of the devil. When tempted by Satan Jesus reply was "It is written", we need to study to show ourselves approved unto God, to be able to rightly divide the Word of truth, and use it against the devil to cast him down. It is only by study and digesting the word that we learn over time to use the scriptures' appropriately, rightly dividing the word of truth and walking it out in faith. Note: we would find we'd have much less turmoil, and much more peace and fulfillment in our lives if we would pray more often in this area. The Lord wants to guide us and give direction, but we must seek Him for it. He won't force His will on us. Many heartaches come from decisions made in the flesh, from our own selfishness, and from our own wisdom. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the glory forever. Amen. In eternity, we will look back and see the great privilege we have been given to be born in this generation. It is the most dangerous, but the most glorious at the same time. Because this is the generation that God is going to take back from Satan the rulership of this world, when Christ returns. We as believer's have been given the power and authority to work with Him to accomplish this. He has equipped us with all power over the enemy to rescue the last harvest of souls from darkness, to bring them to salvation under the blood of Christ, and to hold back the devils attacks while the Holy Spirit and God's angels assist us in this last great harvest. We need to digest the scriptures that tell who we are in Christ, what authority we have, and use it, as the disciples did in the book of Acts. God means business in these last days, and we must also. ⦁ I encourage you to read the following scriptures and study them on your own, and ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you, and reveal to you your place with him. I encourage you to study the book of Ephesians, it teaches us of Christs' victory, and authority, and how we need to walk as his people. Paul's prayer in Eph. 1:17-23. In this prayer we are told of Christ's supremacy over every principality and power, and every name that is named, and that He has put ALL things under His feet. When this sinks down into us, then faith rises in our spirits to understand the scriptures' in the gospels when Jesus speaks of our authority over demons and all the attacks of the enemy. ⦁ In 1Peter ch. 2:4-9, we are described as living stones, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that we should show forth the praises of him who has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. James 2: 5, tells us "God has chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him." This flies in the face of the ones preaching prosperity, praying for 3-4 cars, and million dollar houses. Heb. 11:10-16 clearly explains we are looking for a city whose builder and maker is God, and Jesus tells us to lay up our treasures there. We are strangers and pilgrims here in this life. ⦁ 2Peter 1:11 says the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ is an everlasting kingdom. As we digest this we need to say with Paul in Col. 3:1-4 "If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For you are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall you also appear with him in glory." ⦁ In ages to come, we will be ruling and reigning with him in the millennial kingdom described in Rev. ch. 20, and then on into eternity. As we serve him, we will continue to grow in grace, knowledge and wisdom, our development and growth will not end when we get to heaven, or when we reign with Christ here. I pray that God will cause you to seek a glimpse of what eternity will really be like. There are times as I ponder on these things, that I am left in total awe of God. (This may be the place to end.) Points to Review: Prayer Is; Asking and Receiving: In the known will of God. We know that prayer for healing, reconciliation, our daily needs, etc. are examples of praying in the known will of God. 1John 5:14,15 Seeking and Finding: When we don't know God's will, seek Him until we find it. This is prayer for knowledge of the unrevealed will of God. Daniel is an example of this kind of seeking. God honors our seeking hearts. Col. 3:1, Jer. 29:12,13 Prayer is knocking and Opening: When we know the will of God, but find a closed door, hindrance, or attack of the devil, we keep knocking until God opens the door. If we are shown we need to make a change in our behavior, repent of a sin, or seek Him for strength to endure a hardship-we know we can come to Him, and we will get the help we need, so our prayers are effective. This is tenacious, miracle working prayer. Knocking prayer perseveres until the impossible becomes possible. Matt. 17:14-21 Lorna Couillard (2007 teaching for Teen Challenge) The Sermon on the Mount and the Lord's Prayer https://youtu.be/MDCbJ4vnMNg Thy Kingdom Come Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
In the King James version of this verse, as "it is" is emphasized in italics-why? Because the will of God in heaven in unobstructed, uninhibited, and there is no opposition to His will-in heaven. God's will reigns supreme, and his angels and the saints that are there now, do His service and His will perfectly, and with joy. There is no evil there, no rebellion, no deceit, there is no one there that practices a lie. In order to get a deeper picture of the perfect will of God, you will have to take the time to study who God is, how he guides us in His word, and what His guidance and direction to us is. The only way you can do this, is by picking up the bible, and begin to read it, and study it. Below are some commentaries from other's and their thoughts on what can be gleaned by this verse-may it deepen your understanding of what God's Kingdom is- and what it looks like. If you do, you would get an idea why so many saints down through the ages have prayed for it, and waited earnestly and expectantly for it to come in it's fulness-including myself. Those who have had their eyes opened, and their hearts pierced with a clear picture of what God intended in the beginning for his people when he first created man; then what Satan did to this world and Adam and Eve when they sinned in the garden, and then look at the world we live in today-it will break your heart, and you will never feel like you belong here anymore. I do not belong here, not in this world. My eyes are fixed on heaven, where my future with Him, is ever before me. Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. The Messiah's kingdom had not yet come, but was proclaimed by the Lord as at hand. It did speedily come, but in its fulness, and in its final triumph over evil, it has not yet come. For this coming we may now pray, and the prayer is answered in part by each success of the gospel. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. None can pray thus who have not merged their own wills into the divine will. He, in effect, prays the prayer of Gethsemane, "Not my will, but thine, be done." It is mockery for disobedient lips to utter such a prayer. B.W. Johnson comm (excerpt) "In this petition the disciples were taught to pray for the success of the Gospel, both among Jews and Gentiles; for the conversion of God's elect, in which the kingdom of God would greatly appear, to the destruction of the kingdom of Satan, and the abolition of the kingdom of the beast, in the latter day; which will usher in the kingdom, of the mediator, he will receive from his Father, and this will terminate in the kingdom of glory: in a word, not the kingdom of nature and providence is meant, which always was; but the kingdom of heaven, which was at hand, nay had taken place, though as yet was not very visible, and which is spiritual in the hearts of God's people, Jews and Gentiles; and which will appear exceeding glorious in the latter day, and at last be swallowed up in the ultimate glory; all which must be very desirable by the sincere lovers of Jesus Christ. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. There is some appearance of this petition still remaining, in what the (t) Jews call the short prayer: "what is the short prayer? R. Eliezer says, עשה רצונך בשמים, "do thy will in heaven"; and give quietness of spirit, or acquiescence of spirit in thy will, to them that fear thee below.'' Christ says "thy will"; not the will of wicked men, nor the will of Satan, nor a man's own will, but the will of God: by which is meant either his secret will, which is the rule of all his proceedings both in providence and grace; is unknown to us, till facts make it appear; is always fulfilled in heaven and in earth; and sometimes is fulfilled by those who have no regard to his revealed will; and is what ought to be submitted to patiently, and without murmuring: or rather his revealed will, which consists partly in the declarations of his grace and mercy; as that salvation is by Christ, whoever believes in him shall be saved, that all the redeemed be sanctified, persevere to the end, and be glorified; and partly in the commands enjoined his people, which will of his is good, perfect, and acceptable. The will of God may be said to be done by us, when our wills are resigned to his; when we patiently submit to every adverse dispensation of providence; when our hearts and actions are, in some measure, conformed to his law; when what is done, is done in faith, with a view to his glory, and without dependence upon it; of which such only are capable who have a spiritual understanding of the will of God, believe in Christ, receive grace and strength from him, and are assisted by his Spirit. These desire to do the will of God, as it is done in heaven; meaning not so much by the inanimate creatures, the sun, and moon, and stars, as glorified saints and holy angels, who do it voluntarily and cheerfully; speedily, and without delay; constantly, and without any interruption; and perfectly and completely." John Gill comm. Second Petition: Thy kingdom come — The kingdom of God is that moral and spiritual kingdom which the God of grace is setting up in this fallen world, whose subjects consist of as many as have been brought into hearty subjection to His gracious scepter, and of which His Son Jesus is the glorious Head. In the inward reality of it, this kingdom existed ever since there were men who “walked with God” (Gen_5:24), and “waited for His salvation” (Gen_49:18); who were “continually with Him, holden by His right hand” (Psa_73:23), and who, even in the valley of the shadow of death, feared no evil when He was with them (Psa_23:4). When Messiah Himself appeared, it was, as a visible kingdom, “at hand.” His death laid the deep foundations of it. His ascension on high, “leading captivity captive and receiving gifts for men, yea, for the rebellious, that the Lord God might dwell among them,” and the Pentecostal effusion of the Spirit, by which those gifts for men descended upon the rebellious, and the Lord God was beheld, in the persons of thousands upon thousands, “dwelling” among men - was a glorious “coming” of this kingdom. But it is still to come, and this petition, “Thy kingdom come,” must not cease to ascend so long as one subject of it remains to be brought in. But does not this prayer stretch further forward - to “the glory to be revealed,” or that stage of the kingdom called “the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2Pe_1:11)? Not directly, perhaps, since the petition that follows this - “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven” - would then bring us back to this present state of imperfection. Still, the mind refuses to be so bounded by stages and degrees, and in the act of praying, “Thy kingdom come,” it irresistibly stretches the wings of its faith, and longing, and joyous expectation out to the final and glorious consummation of the kingdom of God. Third Petition: Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven — or, as the same words are rendered in Luke, “as in heaven, so upon earth” (Luk_11:2) - as cheerfully, as constantly, as perfectly. But some will ask, Will this ever be? We answer, If the “new heavens and new earth” are to be just our present material system purified by fire and transfigured, of course it will. But we incline to think that the aspiration which we are taught in this beautiful petition to breathe forth has no direct reference to any such organic fulfillment, and is only the spontaneous and resistless longing of the renewed soul - put into words - to see the whole inhabited earth in entire conformity to the will of God. It asks not if ever it shall be - or if ever it can be - in order to pray this prayer. It must have its holy yearnings breathed forth, and this is just the bold yet simple expression of them. Nor is the Old Testament without prayers which come very near to this (Psa_7:9; Psa_67:1-7; Psa_72:19, etc.)." As I listened to this, it was as a mirror of what we are living in right now, if David Wilkerson was here today, he would be amazed at the accuracy of what the Holy Spirit gave him, when he preached this message. Being in heaven, I don't believe he will mind if I take this, and send it out again, and let the world-and the devil hear it; as many events unfold, that describe what he said years ago. Also listening to this, it caused me to nod my head in agreement in many areas. Over the last year and a half, I've known how Jeremiah must have felt, when he tried to warn his people before his nation was invaded-but no one would heed him. It is the same here in this country now. This country is just what Mr. Wilkerson described in his message-another Sodom's sister. He used the verses of Ezekiel 16:46-52, as I read the chapter, I decided to go back to verse 35 and gone on to verse 58, because it gives a very clear message that pertains to this day we are living in right now. Today, the revealing of the Anti-Christ and the Beast system is showing itself through the implementation of the NWO, and the enemies within this nation and nations of the world who have joined hands, and forces to put this into place. The Covid plandemic, and the vaccine agenda are a great part of getting it up and running. David Wilkerson could not have known that then-but the general warning in this sermon is powerfully accurate. Islam has been an evil source of much death and suffering, and will indeed be part of the end-time wars, but the real enemies are the Satanic elites/globalists who have in the last 20 years, raised their heads in pride, enough to now be recognized, and are now right in your face-telling you what they are going to do, and how their going to do it. To name some of them, Bill Gates, Anthony Fauci, Klaus Schwab, Obama, Soros, and many more. Many of this countries most deadly enemies are within, and running much of the government agencies, which are working tirelessly to run it into the ground. Do some studies on the Bilderberg's, Vanderbilt's, Rockefeller's, Clintons, and the British royals. As for the churches, this message is totally accurate about their apostasy-but I'll add to what he said. Now, I watch videos, media interviews, and read articles about mega pastor's endorsing, and promoting these vaccines-opening their churches as vaccine stations, and even go door to door trying to get people to take them. I groan in my spirit when I see and read this-because I know they are doing it out of ignorance, from not doing any critical studying about what is in these vaccines, nor are they hearing the hundreds of doctor's who have given warnings to not take them, and why. The information is there-these pastor's are either too lazy, bought off, or willfully going ahead with this, because of not wanting to lose their people. They will lose them anyway, and when they realize the truth it will be too late. Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffress, and T.D. Jakes are a few, along with many other's who have chosen to believe the narrative fed to them by mainstream media-without reading the facts given even by the CDC themselves, on the deadly ingredients in these poison shots. I am watching this country dissolving and collapsing, and still the majority of the masses go on, in apathy. This is what several generations of drug addiction and brainwashing has done to make people willing to be groomed, and then taken to the slaughter. The media won't be able to avoid having to start reporting the tragedies, when the millions who've taken the vaccines, begin to collapse and become permanently disabled, or die. Many already have, but in months to come, there won't be any way for the media to keep it covered up. The warnings sounded by Mr. Wilkerson, and many other's who've been rejected, were trying to warn us. This nation did not listen. This video describes the agenda of the elites/globalists-and what they are striving to put into place-it is the Anti-Christ Beast system. We are already living in a portion of it, but the next few years is going to be the greatest push by them to get this completely up-and running: Spacebusters 2020 Doc, Part 5- New World Order- I will add, yes, pray, but it's very important who you pray to: not Buddha, not Mohammed, but to the Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ. David Wilkerson - Sodom's Sister | Must Hear https://youtu.be/XRPjJfeDZp0 Eze 16:35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:
Eze 16:36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them; Eze 16:37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness. Eze 16:38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy. Eze 16:39 And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare. Eze 16:40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. Eze 16:41 And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more. Eze 16:42 So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. Eze 16:43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations. Eze 16:44 Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter. Eze 16:45 Thou art thy mother's daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother was an Hittite, and your father an Amorite. Eze 16:46 And thine elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. Eze 16:47 Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways. Eze 16:48 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. Eze 16:49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. Eze 16:50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. Eze 16:51 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done. Eze 16:52 Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters. Eze 16:53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them: Eze 16:54 That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them. Eze 16:55 When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate. Eze 16:56 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride, Eze 16:57 Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of thy reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about. Eze 16:58 Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD. When Jesus fought the devil in the wilderness, he used just one thing, the word of God. These scriptures were given to me, to stand on in this battle I'm facing in my area: Isa 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Co 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 2Co 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 1Co 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. I stand with Christ, and will overcome-these verses sum up my life: 1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 1Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? Some time has been spent seeking the Lord about what direction to take now, and His will concerning my service to Him. It was well spent, and He was gracious to give me some clear instruction. I noticed again that those on the internet, who lurk and troll me, have made a lot of assumptions. These people would be better off to just be quiet and say nothing, but I've learned to expect the false accusations. Some of it is very cruel and I can tell those who are glad when they think I'm gone for good. If your one of them-your in for a disappointment. I'll say a few things first before going into what God wants now from me. 1. I've said this before- I don't expect anything different from any of you here on the internet or any other media source, except what I've seen in almost 10 years-and I'll add, I don't care. I am doing this for Jesus, not to please man, or to pretend to be something I'm not. 2. I may be the least, and the worst servant of God, but I am called by Him, and a minister. I've been honest and open about my life, like Moses and Paul-I am a sinner, saved by the blood and mercy of Jesus Christ. I am walking in His forgiveness, and righteousness-my sins have been forgiven, and forgotten. The only thing I'll say about much of the cruel false accusations from my area-and the internet is-unless you've got some untouched video footage, or an untouched picture of me doing something wrong, and open sin-you'd be better off keeping your mouth shut. One day, you will answer to God for the false accusations. As a minister, I'll just remind you of that. How about yours? Who is Jesus Christ to you? When you breath your last breath-do you have the assurance of heaven when you die? 3. When God called me to His service, he didn't add that I needed to be approved by any of you-nor was I given any instructions to seek your endorsements. My tally in this will be added up, when this is all over, and I stand before Him in Judgment day. You won't be there. Now, from today on, my work and service to God will be on this site, and I will continue to preach/teach/witness from here. If anyone wants to see or hear anything from me-this is where I'll be until I'm dead, or Jesus returns. The Two Sparrows site will remain up-it's got a lot of resource material, and the Covid information page has a lot of links to important information that people will find there-that you won't find anywhere on mainstream media. If you want to know the truth about this pandemic, and the dangers and lies about the vaccines- go there: http://twosparrowsministry.org/ , there's also a lot of blogs about caregiving, and the resource and inspiration pages are full of good information, and they will be changed seasonally. Again, the Lord brought up to me points about the life of Paul, and the early disciples, and what appeared to the world as their failures in their ministry-and let me know, that Two Sparrows was a witness, and in heaven, it is not seen as a failure-any more than Paul being a prisoner, and losing his head was a failure. He had remained faithful to the end. I continued to work and serve in Two Sparrows in the capacity I was able. I worked many hours, and many nights, all night long researching and finding information on the topics put in the posts in that site-much of the ministry I did in my local area-I will not speak about, it's between me, the people I ministered to, and God-that's the way it's supposed to stay. Those who feel they need to be applauded, and broadcast their works, can do that, but my Bible teaches me to not do that. Go to Matthew chapter six, and read it. My ministry will now be centered as my service as a watchman, intercessor, and teacher. My work will be posted here. What I share, many I'm sure, will not like, I'm used to that. I'll start right out by sharing something that's happened to me in the last week-it will offend some, and some will probably nod their heads in a "yes", even if they would never admit it in public. When I bought the house I'm in now seventeen years ago, I hoped and intended it to be a place to live out the rest of my life in some peace, and chose this place because it was back off the main roads, and in what seemed to be a quiet area. I soon learned, looks are deceiving. Various problems have occurred over the years, and there's been ongoing issues of one kind and another. Last week, atv's and loose dogs, cursing, filthy language and intentional harassment continued until I called the police and complained-what I expected happened, retaliation. It just got worse, with the consent and approval of the adults. This is why many who go through this, learn to say nothing and let it go on-they don't want to put up with the reaction they get-lawless rebellion. They also don't want to deal with the stress, and toll it takes on them. I reported it again, as I've done a couple of times over the years, because I'm willing to take the hate, lies, false accusations and cursing, not just for myself, but for other's who are dealing with the same issues-and are afraid to say anything. I'm not afraid. I'll take your hate, the lies, and the retaliation- and be a witness to the problems going on in these towns and communities who cover up the real problems that cause this-which is sin. I won't go into the drugs/booze parties and backwoods drug deals-that would take up too much time right now. I lost my temper with all of this going on, got in the truck and drove past their house too fast-giving them a sample of their conduct-this is the wrong thing to do. Two wrongs do not make a right. I had to repent, and ask the Lord's help, self control, and help to deal with it in the way He'd want. I'm just a human, and need His help like everyone else. Preachers make the mistake in trying to put on a front that we are free from temptations, and emotions-read the Bible for yourself. You'll find everyone God ever used, were just like you, and me. Nehemiah the prophet would get so mad, he cursed, smote (hit) some of them, and pulled the beards out of some of those who inter-married with pagan nations. He also chased away those who defiled the priesthood, by marrying strange wives. I've not gone that far. Read it for yourself: Neh 13:23 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: Neh 13:24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews' language, but according to the language of each people. Neh 13:25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves. Neh 13:28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me. Neh 13:29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites. This gives a very different picture of who God calls and chooses to serve Him, than the world tries to portray. But, back to the story- People who do these things, will many times twist the story and turn on you, accusing you of having mental problems. When people want to cover their sin, they will turn on you, and use false accusation, lies, and threaten. If you confront the issue, and their conduct-the result is more lies. These are the last days, spoken of in II Tim. ch. 3, people are lovers of themselves, boasters, arrogant, false accuser's, full of rebellion; and they teach their kids to be the same. What do I hope for these people? That they would come out of their blindness, and darkness, repent, and turn to Christ for salvation. I would not wish hell on my worst enemy. But, my Bible teaches me that there will not be any liars, nor people who teach a lie, found in heaven, nor anyone who practices sin. I do care about people, and spent many years taking care of other people's grandparent's and parents, I know the consequences of sin, and what it does to people. It almost destroyed me, until I surrendered to Jesus, and gave my life to Him. I see the effects of it every day. But, my kind of love and concern is called "tough love", I tell people what they don't want to hear, because it's the truth. Truth is the only thing that opens the door to the beginning of a change of heart-if the person will let it. Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He has proven that to be true, in my life. This world doesn't need psychiatrists teaching their psyhco-babble, they need to pick up their Bible, read it, and start practicing the Ten Commandments, and the Sermon on the Mount. Psychiatrists and philosophers turn to what the world has to offer to solve their problems, and find they cannot achieve the real need-which is to be forgiven, and as Jesus teaches us- be "born again". Nicodemus marveled at this: Joh 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. If the world did this, there would be no need for prisons, divorce courts, lawsuits, or mental institutions. If they were upheld, there would be consideration, peace, and manners exhibited. I may not like your personal preferences, but I respect your right to live your life-as you wish, and will go out of my way to allow you the right to live in peace, and leave you alone. The way of love is never rude, doesn't seek it's own way, and doesn't intentionally intrude on someone's private life-without their permission. 1Co 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 1Co 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 1Co 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. In the day we live in now, there is no respect for other's, nor is there any privacy. We live in Orwell's book 1984, but it's even worse than he portrayed it in the book now. I, and many other's are looking for, and hoping for the coming of the Lord. As lawlessness increases, our prayers increase for that day to come soon. Lorna Couillard During the times of seeking God's direction specifically on how to go on with this site, these verses and commentary below were given. They helped get my feet set on a sure path.
Godlessness in the Last Days 2Ti 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2Ti 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2Ti 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 2Ti 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 2Ti 3:6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. But, when we go to verse 9, we are given the result, which will surely come: 2Ti 3:9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. The JFB commentary breaks this down well: 2 Timothy 3:9 they shall proceed no further — Though for a time (2Ti_2:16) “they shall advance or proceed (English Version, ‘increase’) unto more ungodliness,” yet there is a final limit beyond which they shall not be able to “proceed further” (Job_38:11; Rev_11:7, Rev_11:11). They themselves shall “wax worse and worse” (2Ti_3:13), but they shall at last be for ever prevented from seducing others. “Often malice proceeds deeper down, when it cannot extend itself” [Bengel]. their folly — literally, “dementation”: wise though they think themselves. shall be manifest — Greek, “shall be brought forth from concealment into open day” [Bengel], (1Co_4:5). as theirs ... was — as that of those magicians was, when not only could they no longer try to rival Moses in sending boils, but the boils fell upon themselves: so as to the lice (Exo_8:18; Exo_9:11). A Worker Approved by God 2Ti 2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers. 2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. "The Revision reads, "Handling aright." The Greek word means, literally, "cutting straight." The thought, probably, is to present the truth clearly, truthfully, without blunders, and with an exactness which cannot be gainsaid." 2Ti 2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. These are those who are actively opposed to the truth-and their actions and words reveal their rebellious, lawless spirits. These are to be avoided: Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. See also Psa 26:4-5, Jer 15:17 “APPROVED UNTO GOD” The elect, 2Ti_2:10-13 : The Apostle sketches the experiences of the elect soul. It must endure, suffer, and die with Christ, that out of its surrender may come the truest, richest life, Joh_12:25. There is no path to lasting success save that of the cross and grave of Christ. It has been allotted to the redeemed in the divine program; each must tread it separately and with resolute purpose. But there is no doubt as to the sequel of a true life. The world of men may count it a failure, but God pledges Himself that as the pendulum swings here in the dark, it shall swing equally in yonder world of light. Three things are impossible with God-to die, to lie, and to fail the soul that trusts Him. Even when we cannot muster faith enough, His word of promise cannot be frustrated in the case of those whose faith is weak and trembling as the smoking flax. The workman, 2Ti_2:14-18 : The one anxiety with us all should be to stand approved before God. As the R.V. margin suggests, we must hold a straight course in the word of truth. Our testimony should resemble an undeviating furrow. Let us construct in our life something which will be a permanent addition to the well-being of the world, so that at the last the Master may say that He is satisfied. F.B. Meyer Preach the Word 2Ti 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; 2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. be instant — that is, urgent, earnest, in the whole work of the ministry. in season, out of season — that is, at all seasons; whether they regard your speaking as seasonable or unseasonable. “Just as the fountains, though none may draw from them, still flow on; and the rivers, though none drink of them, still run; so must we do all on our part in speaking, though none give heed to us” [Chrysostom, Homily, 30, vol. 5., p. 221]. I think with Chrysostom, there is included also the idea of times whether seasonable or unseasonable to Timothy himself; not merely when convenient, but when inconvenient to thee, night as well as day (Act_20:31), in danger as well as in safety, in prison and when doomed to death as well as when at large, not only in church, but everywhere and on all occasions, whenever and wherever the Lord’s work requires it. JFB comm. 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; "This is where we are now- such as will suit their depraved tastes; populus vult decipi, et decipiatur - “the people wish to be deceived, so let them be deceived.” “Like priest, like people” (1Ki_12:31; Hos_4:9). itching — like to hear teachers who give them mere pleasure (Act_17:19-21), and do not offend by truths grating to their ears. They, as it were, tickle with pleasure the levity of the multitude [Cicero], who come as to a theater to hear what will delight their ears, not to learn [Seneca, Epistles, 10.8] what will do them good. “Itch in the ear is as bad in any other part of the body, and perhaps worse” 2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2Ti 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. But watch thou in all things,.... Relating to himself, his doctrine, and conversation; and to others, to feed the flock of God under his care, to know the state of them, and care for them; to give the time of night, and notice of approaching danger, and see the laws of Christ put in execution; either in allusion to shepherds, who watch over their flocks night and day; or to watchmen that are upon the walls of cities, or go about them; or to the priests and Levites in the temple: John Gill comm. evangelist — a missionary bishop preacher, and teacher. fulfil in all its requirements, leaving nothing undone (Act 12:25, Rom 15:19, Col 4:17) 2Ti 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. In the end, this is my goal, to finish my course knowing I've kept the faith, and not waivered. And, as Paul did in his day-look earnestly for His appearing. A servant, Lorna God has required me to relay events of yesterday, 5/10/21 as they happened. It will be put here as a statement concerning what was said to me, how it relates to my calling, and as a teaching. There will be some who read this, and recognize the way the Holy Spirit speaks, and confirms His word to those he calls. It will also help a new believer, who is hungry to know how the Living God works in a serious believer. Yesterday morning, while still laying in bed and praying, the Holy Spirits presence became heavy in the room, and I stopped, and waited in silence. In my heart, He began to speak, this is what transpired: "Now, as Two Sparrows Ministry comes to a close, the calling on your life will make a turn, and a change- My work in your life will center in intercession and the prophetic, in a deeper level. I will confirm this to you in several ways today, so you will be assured you are not being deceived. The scripture you will focus on to begin this service to Me is: Joh 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. You will be shown and given specific people, nations, and areas of great need in prayer. Your emphasis will be on praying for My people. Believers will be facing greater persecution. Governments and leaders are going to begin to bring greater restrictions and life for Christians is going to be very difficult, including here in the United States. Biden will begin to show his true intents, and the false front of benevolence will come off, for everyone to see. I will anoint you, and walk with you through this, and the oppositions and attacks you faced with Two Sparrows, will not succeed in this, because your ministry in this is fully with Me-Satan will have to go through Me, to get to you. No human opposition will have any access to your service to Me in this realm. The failure the world thinks it sees concerning Two Sparrows, is a testimony of what the people want. They did not reject you, they rejected Me. Remember, I could not do anything in my own hometown, Nazareth, and My own family rejected Me. I left, and went to Bethany, and surrounding areas. I let people have what they want. Leave this with Me, and move on." In less than an hour after given this direction, as I was looking on the internet for any pertinent events to post on my sites, I came across a video of the same pastor in Canada who had recently had his church raided by police, and he ran them off. In this video, several police cars, and multiple officers stopped him, forced him out of his car in the middle of the highway, and arrested him, handcuffed him and hauled him off with them. The Holy Spirit spoke quietly to me-"This is the first confirmation of what I spoke to you. Post it, it is a great sign to My people, of more of this to come, and it will get much worse." An excerpt from the article: "The Canadian Gestapo were smart this time. Instead of breaking into and swarming Canadian Pastor Artur Pawlowski’s church — as they previously did during an Easter weekend service, only to be appropriately shamed and heckled out of the place — this time the Canadian Gestapo waited until after Saturday services to arrest Pawlowski, and did so on a public highway." Breitbart News Network You can go to the News and Commentary page of this site, and read the article and watch the video-both will give a clear picture of what we will see much more of soon. After this, I decided to get some housework done, and decided to put on a bible CD, and some music to listen to while I worked. I didn't even look to see which CD of the bible I picked to listen to-I just took one, put it in the stereo-and went about my business. Soon, I was hearing Alexander Scourby quoting John ch. 17:9----AGAIN. Joh 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. Coincidence?....No, this was the second confirmation of what the Lord has spoken to me less than two hours ago-while still in bed. As I listened to this verse, the familiar Presence of the Lord came upon me, and filled the house. His still small voice came again to me "This is the second confirmation, there will be another." Late last night, while doing some work on the internet, and making some changes, I came across a short teaching by A.W. Tozer-and the subject was the servant who walks alone with God in their service. In it, every aspect of what was said to me earlier in the day by the Holy Spirit was within this short 20 minute sermon/teaching. God had confirmed His word spoken to me this morning, 3 times, before the day ended. I rarely speak of the direct workings of God in my life, and was reluctant to do it this time-but He has required it. Someone will gain some learning from it. Few in this world would care or see the significance of this, but those it's meant for, will. To give a deeper aspect of this ministry-the Lord gave these verses, as a direction to me in this calling: Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. And for this purpose, and to this end: Joh 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. Joh 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. Joh 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Even so, come Lord Jesus Lorna Couillard Commentary on Jesus Praying for His Own
Joh 17:9 I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. John 17:9 I pray for them,.... This is to be understood of Christ, not as God; for as such he is the object of prayer; nor need he pray to any other; nor is there any superior to him under that consideration to pray unto; but as man and Mediator: nor is his praying any argument against his deity; nor proof of inferiority to his Father with respect to his divine nature; since it is not in that, but in his human, nature, that he prayed; though this may be ascribed to his whole person as Godman; hence he had the greatest qualifications and abilities for this work, and his prayers were always heard: praying, as attributed to Christ, must be restrained to his state of humiliation; prayer is never spoken of Christ but whilst he was here on earth; his intercession in heaven is never expressed by prayer; and the saints when they come thither, will have done praying, Christ whilst on earth, was an excellent pattern of prayer; of private and solitary prayer; of social prayer; for and with his disciples; of frequent and fervent prayer; of submission to the will of God in prayer; and of praying even for enemies: the persons he is here said to pray for are his apostles; which shows their danger and their wants, his care over them, and concern for them, and his love unto them: I pray not for the world; the inhabitants of it, the carnal unbelieving part of the world, which lie in sin, and will be condemned; as he died not for them, so he prayed not for them; for whom he is the propitiation, he is an advocate; and for whom he died, he makes intercession; and for no other in a spiritual saving way: but for them which thou hast given me; out of the world, as distinct from them, to be saved with an everlasting salvation by him; and to be preserved safe to his kingdom and glory; for these he prays, for the conversion of them, the application of pardon to them, their final perseverance and eternal glory: for they are thine; not merely by creation, and as the care of his providence, but by eternal election, and special grace in calling; which is a reason why Christ prayed for them, and an argument why the Father should, and would regard his prayers. John Gill comm. ![]() Richard Wurmbrand, also known as Nicolai Ionescu (March 24, 1909 – February 17, 2001) was a Romanian Evangelical Lutheran priest and professor of Jewish descent. In 1948, having become a Christian ten years before, he publicly said Communism and Christianity were incompatible. Wurmbrand preached at bomb shelters and rescued Jews during World War II.[1] As a result, he experienced imprisonment and torture by the then Communist régime of Romania, which maintained a policy of state atheism. After serving a total of fourteen years, he was ransomed for $10,000. His colleagues in Romania urged him to leave the country and work for religious freedom from a location less personally dangerous. After spending time in Norway and England, he and his wife Sabina, who had also been imprisoned, emigrated to America and dedicated the rest of their lives to publicizing and helping Christians who are persecuted for their beliefs. He wrote more than 18 books, the most widely known being Tortured for Christ. Variations of his works have been translated into more than 65 languages. Penalties and Imprisonments Wurmbrand, who passed through the penal facilities of Craiova, Gherla, the Danube–Black Sea Canal, Văcăreşti prison, Malmaison, Cluj and ultimately Jilava, spent three years in solitary confinement.[citation needed] This confinement was in a cell twelve feet underground, with no lights or windows. There was no sound because even the guards wore felt on the soles of their shoes. He later recounted that he maintained his sanity by sleeping during the day, staying awake at night, and exercising his mind and soul by composing and then delivering a sermon each night. Due to his extraordinary memory, he was able to recall more than 350 of those, a selection of which he included in his book With God in Solitary Confinement, which was first published in 1969. During part of this time, he communicated with other inmates by tapping out Morse code on the wall. In this way he continued to "be sunlight" to fellow inmates rather than dwell on the lack of physical light.[citation needed] Wurmbrand was released from his first imprisonment in 1956, after eight and a half years. Although he was warned not to preach, he resumed his work in the underground church. He was arrested again in 1959 and sentenced to 25 years. During his imprisonment, he was beaten and tortured. Physical torture included mutilation, burning and being locked in a large frozen icebox.[citation needed] His body bore the scars of physical torture for the rest of his life. For example, he later recounted having the soles of his feet beaten until the flesh was torn off, then the next day beaten again to the bone, claiming there were not words to describe that pain.[citation needed] During his first imprisonment, Wurmbrand's supporters were unable to gain information about him; later they found out that a false name had been used in the prison records so that no one could trace his whereabouts.[5] Members of the Secret police visited Sabina posing as released fellow prisoners. They claimed to have attended her husband's funeral. [6] During his second imprisonment, his wife Sabina was given official news of his death, which she did not believe.[7] Sabina herself had been arrested in 1950 and spent three years in penal labour on the canal.[citation needed] Sabina's autobiographical account of this time is titled The Pastor's Wife. Their only son, Mihai, by then a young adult, was expelled from college-level studies at three institutions because his father was a political prisoner; an attempt to obtain permission to emigrate to Norway to avoid compulsory service in the Romanian army was unsuccessful.[7] Eventually, Wurmbrand was a recipient of an amnesty in 1964. Concerned with the possibility that Wurmbrand would be forced to undergo further imprisonment, the Norwegian Mission to the Jews and the Hebrew Christian Alliance negotiated with Communist authorities for his release from Romania for $10,000 (though the going rate for political prisoners was $1,900).[citation needed] He was convinced by underground church leaders to leave and become a voice for the persecuted church.[8] He devoted the rest of his life to this effort, despite warnings and death threats. He was a friend of Costache Ioanid, the Romanian Christian poet. Achievements, influence and death[edit]Wurmbrand travelled to Norway, England, and then the United States. In May, 1966, he testified in Washington, D.C., before the U.S. Senate's Internal Security Subcommittee. That testimony, in which he took off his shirt in front of TV cameras to show the scars of his torture, brought him to public attention.[9] He became known as "The Voice of the Underground Church," doing much to publicise the persecution of Christians in Communist countries. He compiled circumstantial evidence that Marx was a satanist.[10][11] In April 1967, the Wurmbrands formed Jesus to the Communist World (later renamed The Voice of the Martyrs), an interdenominational organisation working initially with and for persecuted Christians in Communist countries, but later expanding its activities to help persecuted believers in other places, especially in the Muslim world. In 1990, Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand returned to Romania for the first time in 25 years. The Voice of the Martyrs opened a printing facility and bookstore in Bucharest. The new mayor of Bucharest had offered a storage space for the books under former dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu's palace – where Richard had spent years in confinement, praying for a ministry to his homeland.[12] Wurmbrand engaged in preaching with local ministers of nearly all denominations. Wurmbrand wrote 18 books in English and others in Romanian. His best-known book, titled Tortured for Christ, was published in 1967. In several of them he wrote very boldly and emphatically against Communism; yet he maintained a hope and compassion even for those who tortured him by "looking at men… not as they are, but as they will be… I could also see in our persecutors. a future Apostle Paul… (and) the jailer in Philippi who became a convert."[13] Wurmbrand last lived in Palos Verdes, California. He died at the age of 91 on February 17, 2001[14] in a hospital in Torrance, California. His wife, Sabina, had died six months earlier on August 11, 2000. In 2006, he was voted fifth among the greatest Romanians according to the Mari Români poll. Welcome
May you find a source of sound spiritual food for your soul and spirit here. Jesus Christ is Lord Rev 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.
In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth. Psalm 138:2-4 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
